This is great. My daughter is starting to curl her hair. I would have thought that alcohol would have worked better but of course, it was tried and true method of baking soda! Never ceases to amaze me! Thank you for sharing and making it easier for this mama!

Might not work as well on the round barrel of a curling iron but I also just used a razor blade carefully to scrape the gunk off my flatiron and it worked like a charm. Let it warm up just a teensy bit for a few seconds before you start and when you got most of it off just use any kind of damp cleaning wipe or cloth to wipe away the dust.

OMG you literally saved me hundreds of dollars on a new flat iron. Mine was so bad I was looking at just throwing it away and buying a new one! The baking soda although a bit messy was a total miracle! It worked so well my flat iron is like new and smoothly runs through my hair again like when I bought it new! Thanks again!

Also steel wool is good to clean your curling iron with too.
