The three-year-old does hit occasionally, and it’s so hard for me not to explode on him. And then the six-year-old hits back and she’s much stronger, and I definitely get confused as to which kid to scold! Or neither! Or both!

Absolutely Nikki! I’ve had to stop myself from making too big a deal out of it with the hitter so he doesn’t think that’s a surefire way to get my attention.

It’s important not to react explosively towards the toddler who did the hitting. That may cause a habit of doing things for negative attention as well.
