When we started out, we took the stance that music theory wasn’t a big deal. We were lucky enough to have enough musical talent and musical knowledge (and our parents) that we could eventually figure it out for ourselves, but it would be a long, arduous journey. As such, we didn’t consider ourselves to be beginners and didn’t treat theory as a prerequisite.

The program does it all by itself and does it very well: no audio files are needed, no music notation is needed – the only thing needed is a text file and a bit of programming knowledge. And since this is done entirely within my head, I don’t even need to use any software – there’s no easy way to do this with anything else than a paintbrush.

I’ve been a big fan of the letter M for a long time. It has so many uses, and I think it is a really fun word to use in the context of writing about what we do here at Dogpile. For one thing, it can be used as an adjective describing something that is very important in your life: “I loved my last day at Dogpile! My boss (Mr. W) loved my new sweater (M).” Or you can use it as an adjective when you are talking about being overwhelmed by the power of something: “My house is on fire (M), and I am too scared to go any further (M).” You can also use it as an adverb to describe something that is happening or happening right now: “My house caught on fire (M), and I had to evacuate immediately(M).”

We took our 3 yr old great-nephew to a community day with our local symphony orchestra last weekend. He loves learning about the instruments. I know he is going to love this game.

The maracas are SUPER easy and simple. Take all of a couple minutes to make. The hardest part was opening up my giant metal can of rice – the can opener was having a hard time with it. lol
