Excellent. Spot on with age appropriateness to me every step of the way! My mom had me doing my own laundry start to finish by 7 or 8 when I wanted a dress and it wasn't clean she said do it yourself and apparently that meant full time. No coddling there. My brother now that was another story. He never cared what he wore and I'm pretty sure started doing it in college too. She babied him on chores much more-her dad had been kind of patriarchal. My son is 6 and I have him do so much more than most six year Olds but I think the younger they learn the less the objection and the more it's a healthy habit. And yes we put music on today while we folded to keep it fun! (before I even read this. lol)

Great article. My 12 month old loves handing me 1 or 2 items at a time for me to hang on the line outside or the airer inside. He thinks its funny that I say 'Thank you" for each item and loves being helpful (when he's not being cheeky!).

Yes, and yes!! When my girls were 9, and 11, they were ready to do their own laundry, because I had been teaching them. Yes!!
Now my 20 mo grandbaby puts her dirty laundry in the hamper herself, and helps empty the dryer.
The 4 yo does those 2 things, plus puts dirty in the washer, cleans out the dryer filter, and hits start on dryer. Also folds
hand cloths, Norwex cloths, and put stuff away. I'm really bad about hanging stuff. So, none of us do that. We just don't care about the wrinkles. ;)
Fixing to start teaching baby to match socks, since we are working on her colors.
Thanks for this!
