I don't really agree with the baby talk argument either, I mean, why is it so natural for parents and caregivers to talk high pitched and in baby talk if it was "damaging" to their verbal ability? I think her other tips (this was a guest post) are great though. And your baby is advanced. Seriously. None of my three kids have been full coherent sentences by 1.5 years, more like after their second birthday. And then they don't start talking. And we're still working on reading. ;) Every child is gonna be a little different.

I talked baby talk to my child, and she was talking at 8 months...full, coherant sentences at 1 1/2 years old...and reading at 3. The whole "baby talk" argument is ridiculous to me. I'm not going to talk to a baby like an adult. Love the other tips'

You of course can always talk to your GP if you have real concerns. You know your child best. However, know that some kids are slower at talking than others. I wouldn't worry too much if he can say some words and seems to understand most of what you are saying to him and can obey simple commands. He's not two yet, so I wouldn't be too worried. But, again, you know your child best. Good luck.
