At our home we’ve been trying to get our girls to start doing some “chore-like” things around the house. One of those is to simply clear the table and load the dishwasher with their dirty plates and utensils when we are done eating.
However, we have run into a slight problem with dirty dishes ending up with clean ones in the dishwasher a few times. The girls want to be helpful and do as we ask, but they don’t always know (nor do we, at all times) if it is currently full of clean or dirty dishes.
Hate cleaning but love a clean house? Pick up this printable Spring Cleaning Bundle and you'll be able to clean it all without feeling overwhelmed!
To solve that problem, Josh and I decided to put a dishwasher Clean Dirty sign on our dishwasher door.
I looked online for some ideas and didn’t like most of what I saw. I don’t like the one clean dirty dishwasher magnets where you just rotate it. Seemed too confusing to girls who are still trying to learn how to read. I also didn’t see many with helpful pictures. And I didn’t want it too complicated since I just wanted to make it at home now.
I was hoping to find a printable, but didn’t really. So, I decided to make my own sign for our dishwasher, complete with pictures and instructions. I used Microsoft Word and some clip art, and voila!
Dishwasher Clean Dirty Sign Printable
I cut each square out, glued them back to back with a glue stick, and then laminated them with contact paper.
We then simply use a little magnet to attach it to our dishwasher. We just have to flip it over to show the other side.
