Hee-Haw! Baaa! Moo! Animal sounds are just so much fun! Seriously. Even as an adult I love trying to make authentic animals noises, and really get into grunting and braying and cock-a-doodling. Okay, so maybe I’m a little goofy, but I love it. I love going all out for dumb things like animal noises. And my kids love it too. I have found that introducing farm animals to my kids has been one of the funnest experiences of motherhood.
My husband and I love singing “Old McDonald had a farm” to the kids and let them choose the animal. Most of the time it is Pig, again and again. It’s hilarious. We also sometimes choose odd “farm” animals like an elephant on the farm, and ask our kids if elephants live on farms. We also like to sing “Bingo!” Though about a dog, it’s still a great time.
I think farms are also a great place to take your kids so they can experience those farm animals firsthand. But, I don’t live on a farm or know anyone close that does right now. So, we have been visiting our favorite animals via books, videos, and music.
We have this funny puppet book called “Barnyard Boogie,” which my in-laws randomly got for our girls. It can be a ton of fun to practice your best animal voices and sounds, even if my daughters really just like the puppet mouth. We also have several Sonya Boynton books like Barnyard Boogie which is also fun to dance and jive with as you make some animal noises and strut around and keep a beat.
Another great book option are the “My Farm Friends” personalized Children’s books and accessories from I See Me!
These books are personalized board books for babies and young children that have a picture of your child and their name in the story. Your child will delight in learning about all the different animals that live on the farm, discovering the sounds they make, especially when they are already in the story.
ISeeMe.com offers high quality gifts that have been featured nationally in People, In Touch, and Parents magazines as unique gifts for newborns and young children.
Another great thing I like to do is have my kids watch Youtube videos of real animals, in case I can’t take them to the farm or the zoo. We also have watched things like Planet Earth with our kids. We even like listening to the song “What does the Fox Say.”
What ways have you introduce farm animals and wildlife animals to your young kids?

I got a personalized book for my grandson and he loved it. It’s fun for them to see themselves in books. I have two more grandkids to get the books for. Maybe for Christmas.
