Hi! I’m Julie from Confessions of a Cooking Diva and I’m so excited that Katelyn has invited me to share my Office in a Basket with you. You are probably wondering why someone with a blog named Confessions of a Cooking Diva is sharing an organizational project that’s because I love to organize. Foodie by day, organizer by night. There is something so therapeutic about getting rid of clutter and putting things in order.
Office in a Basket
About 7 months ago I quit my regular job to work from home. After a couple of months I realized that I really needed something to organize my many office essentials. I do have an office, but it’s upstairs and away from the family, I wanted something that could be in the family room and not take up too much room.
I bought a couple of magazine baskets from Target and decided that I didn’t need two for magazines and that’s when I realized it would make a great holder for my office supplies. I have a large fireplace that has lots of space and the baskets fit right into the groove of the fireplace on each side. I keep the magazine basket on the left side of the fireplace and my office in a basket on the right. The other great thing about this basket is that it’s portable. I can take it anywhere I need to. It’s been known to go outside with me.
What’s in the baskets?

I have my files. I have one for bills, blog documents, work receipts, VA paper work and freelance paperwork. These file folders are almost my favorite items in the basket. They have made my life so much easier. Whenever I get a bill in the mail, I automatically put it in the folder; any receipts after shopping go in the receipts file and any paperwork that I need to keep go into their respective files. No more piles of paper on the table and no more lost paperwork. Seriously, the best thing ever!I keep a spiral notebook in there for all kinds of things. Notes, lists, rough drafts of posts, etc. I can’t get enough notebooks. I have little one’s in my purse, my nightstand, the kitchen, the car, etc. It’s notebook overload in our house. My planner. I love, love, love my planner. Not only because it’s pink but without it I would never remember anything. I could write an entire post on just my planner. It goes everywhere with me. I have to-do lists, calendars for my personal life and for my blog, notes for different things. Contact information, you name it, it’s in there.
I have a pouch that has a bunch of sticky notes (love those things) and a bunch of pens. I color coordinate my planner and I have a color for each person and animal in the house. I also have a pencil in there and white out. I used to keep a calculator in there, but I realized I have a calculator on my phone I just use that.
My recipe notebook. This notebook is used strictly to record notes for any new recipes I’m working on. I rarely take it out of the house, I’m afraid I’ll lose it. I like knowing that it’s either in the basket or in the kitchen.
That’s it that is everything I keep in there. It’s super convenient for when I need a bill or need to find some important paperwork for my blog or clients.

I read this on Pinterest…I got up around 3am – that means I actually got off of Pinterest 🙂 – to see how this would look in a big basket I have. I love it !!! It is brilliant 🙂 Thank you so much for posting this. I’ve been struggling to do a new organization for my home office…and I do mean struggling! Your post helped a lot! Have a great weekend 🙂
