Looking into getting a Primo® Water Dispenser? Read on to discover more about Primo Water and how it can help your family. This post is sponsored by Primo but the love of it is my own.
When we moved to Texas five years ago, our apartment’s water never really got cold running from the tap for whatever reason. My husband really likes cold water and drinks a lot of water every day.
Plus, we occasionally received notifications to boil our city water. Sometimes our water was turned off for a bit because of construction near our apartment complex (or other reasons).
Add in that our water always had a strong chlorine smell and wasn’t the best tasting water, and we were looking for better clean cold water solution.
To solve the cold water issue, we bought a water filter pitcher and stuck it on our fridge, but it was never enough water for the five people living in our home when we all wanted cold water, or had guests over, or someone forgot to refill it. Plus, you have to wait a few minutes for the water to filter through after you refilled it.
It wasn’t ideal.
We then tried filtering water and then filling up individual water bottles and storing them in our fridge as well so they’d be cold and accessible, but then our fridge space was consumed with water bottles and a pitcher. Our fridge was not that large – simply your standard small sized apartment refrigerator.
My husband hated having all the water bottles and pitchers in the fridge. He decided to solve our problems once and for all by purchasing a Primo Water Dispenser.
I was skeptical at first, especially because tap water was free and the pitcher and filters weren’t too expensive. I also had to figure out where to buy Primo water bottles or find Primo water refill locations.
But, it really was an amazing decision! We’ve been Primo water fans ever since, so for about 3 years now.
Here’s why.
Primo Water
If you are unfamiliar with Primo water, Primo is a water company that provides clean, safe, purified water for purchase via Primo water bottles or through Primo water refill stations.
They also sell Primo Hot/Cold water dispensers for home and office use, allowing you to have purified hot and cold water at the touch of a button.
Primo water bottles can be purchased from most major grocery stores and Primo water refill stations are often found in or outside of them too.
Primo Water Refill Locations
When you want to exchange Primo water bottles or refill up your empty Primo water bottles again (they’re good up to 40 refills), you can head to the Find Primo Water Near You page on Primo’s Website. It even allows you to select if you are looking for pre-filled exchange water, a self-service refill station inside or self-service refill outside.
I went to my local H-E-B (Texas Grocery Store) and used their outdoor water refill station. It was actually for Glacier water. It was 35 cents per gallon. I could pay cash right at the machine or swipe a card (for a small surcharge).
What I like about the outdoor refill stations is that I don’t have to go into the store or go to a register to pay for the refill water, which is what you do with indoor refill stations, like I used to use at my local Walmart.
Outdoor stations allow you more freedom to get it when you need it and not wait in line, which is great when you don’t actually need to go grocery shopping again but need a refill.
And if you have older kids, you can even send them with some money and the bottle while you stay in the car with the younger kids. Win!
We always have two 5-gallon Primo containers at a time which allows us more flexibility with having to run to the store all the time for a fill-up (did I mention we are a family of 7?).
Also, if you are using a refill station at a grocery store, grab a shopping cart to put your water in! They are heavy!
But, let’s get back to why Primo water is better than what we had before.
Is Primo Water Safe?
Primo water has gone through a reverse osmosis purification process. There are no parasites, bacteria, viruses, or heavy metals in Primo water. Primo water contains:
- no lead
- no cyanide
- no mercury
- no arsenic
- no ethylbenzene
- no floride
I found this great article about Primo’s 9-step process of water purification if you want to do some more reading about their high-quality pure drinking water.
It is important to note too that the Primo self-service refill bottles are BPA-free too! They also have no expiration date as long as they are stored in a cool location out of direct sunlight.
Plus, 1,100 single serve water bottles are saved by one refillable 5-gallon bottle of Primo water over the course of its 40-use lifetime, which helps save our ocean and planet from tons of plastic waste.
Where to Buy Primo Water Dispensers
When it comes to knowing where to buy Primo water dispensers, there are several places to buy them. We picked up our first Primo water dispenser at Sam’s Club.
You can also buy directly from the Primo Water. You can check out my new Primo bottom-loading water dispenser here.
Primo Water Reviews
My family loves having instant purified hot and cold water at our fingertips at all times.
The Primo water dispenser buttons are on the top of the machine rather than lever activated where the water pours out, which matters because we have small kids.
Our littlest toddlers won’t accidentally get water out of the machine. This is especially important for hot water. The good news is that you can turn off the hot water altogether and when on the hot water has an addition button safety too.
But, the kids who are old enough can help themselves to water whenever they need it. Just push a button and go. It’s also not as inaccessible as high kitchen sinks or sink handles for young children.
Less hearing “Mom can you get me a drink” is a godsend.
We eat Ramen noodles sometimes for lunch in our home, as well as enjoy the occasional cup of hot chocolate and I love that both of those are made easier with the hot water feature on the Primo dispenser. If you drink coffee or tea, it would be great too.
Plus, the purified water is great to use in my baby’s bottles when we are supplementing breastfeeding with formula.
I love the bottom-loading Primo water dispenser as the bottles are heavy and I don’t want to flip or lug a bottle around more than I have to.
Again, with kids, I’d worry more too about the water dispenser being tipped over by kids running around and someone getting hurt so this is another win for us.
I also like always having purified water on hand! It means we aren’t affected by the city shutting off water, or water outages during terrible storms, and so on.
We also love that we save room in the fridge for other things… like the multiple gallons of milk we buy each week. ?
Oh, and we’re drinking more water! Did you know that bulk water users consumer as much as 25% more water than non-bulk water users?
Our large reusable water bottles all easily fit underneath the tap of the Primo water dispenser so we can fill up no problem.
Hydration is smart and healthy and the Primo helps my family with that too.

bull, i’ve tested several public water dispensers at the stores, through a certified lab, and 1/4 of them came out positive for all kinds of garbage.
