Looking to save on drugs’ costs? Discover how to save on prescription drug costs with SingleCare prescription card. This post is sponsored by SingleCare but opinions are my own.
My husband and I have been cash-paying medical patients for some years now.
The reason for this is simple – we use Christian Healthcare Ministries for help with our medical expenses, but they aren’t insurance: they are a health share. This means wherever we go, we pay out-of-pocket for all services.
When an incident/accident goes above $500, we get reimbursed a few months later for all the medical bills and costs.
It’s actually a really great program and super affordable month-to-month.
But, this means we have to pay cash prices for all medical-related expenses, including medicine.
As we like to save money on drugs we need for our health, we have figured out two tricks for lowering prescription drug costs.
How to Save on Drugs
One of these tricks is to always give the pharmacist a prescription pharmacy savings card.
What is a Pharmacy Savings Card?
A prescription drug discount savings card is a FREE downloadable and/or printable card that can be presented at participating pharmacies in order to receive discounts on your prescriptions.
It’s really that simple.
Before presenting your credit card or cash to pay, hand over the printed pharmacy savings card (about the same size as your insurance card or a credit card) and the pharmacist will then automatically lower drug costs if they can, by using the BIN and PCN number found on your card.
These pharmacy prescription cards can easily save you up to 80% on prescribed drugs and they are totally legitimate!
You don’t need to register for them or pre-qualify, and there are no age or gender or health or income restrictions for their use.
They are at no cost to everyone!
These discount pharmacy cards are so great to use in order to cut down on drug costs!
I actually keep a few different ones in my wallet, and will sometimes ask the pharmacist to scan each one to see which will get me the lowest price.
It never hurts to ask!
SingleCare Cards
One of the pharmacy savings cards I keep in my wallet is from SingleCare.
SingleCare is a free pharmacy savings card that helps people save money on their medications whether they have insurance or not.
The SingleCare card is totally free to use and is definitely not a scam. You can check out The Frugal Phramacist’s SingleCare review for more about how it works too.
There are no membership fees other hidden fees or strings attached, and they collect only bare minimum information about you and your health. There is no catch!
SingleCare is accepted nationwide at over 35,000 partner pharmacies, including the following major pharmacies:
- CVS
- Target
- Rite Aid
- Longs Drugs
- Walmart
- Walgreens
- Albertsons
- Fry’s
- Kroger
- Harris Teeter
- Others
To get your SingleCare coupon/discount, just present your SingleCare discount card — either printed from their website or pulled up on the SingleCare app — at whatever pharmacy you use.
The pharmacist then gives you a lower “coupon price.”
You can also request the coupon via text, email, or to print after using the SingleCare price comparison tool.
Compare Drug Costs to Save Money on Prescriptions
Another super-easy way to save money on drugs is to shop around!
If there are several pharmacies in your area that you can get to, use a price comparison tool online to compare drug costs in your area for the specific drugs you need filled.
The big benefit of using SingleCare when you don’t have insurance (and even when you do) is its price comparison tool.
With it, you can easily access which cost is lowest – your co-pay (if you have insurance), the cash price, or SingleCare’s coupon price, and which local pharmacy has the best price!
With SingleCare’s price comparison tool, it lets you specify if it’s for generic or name brand drugs, what form of drug (e.g. liquid, pill, tablet, chewable), mcg concentration, and pill count.
Again, there is no catch! SingleCare is legit. The amount you see in their price lookup tool for the right pharmacy, location, prescription type, dosage, and quantity is what you will pay when you get to the counter.
You can even bundle multiple subscriptions at once to see how much you can save if filling multiple scripts.
You can see how Consumer Queen used SingleCare for Tamiflu and other prescriptions to see it isn’t scam.
So incredibly helpful and easy to use! Don’t forget to use the pharmacy that offers you the best cost savings on prescription drugs you need.
Follow @SingleCare on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter as they share great health and prescription information articles.
Be sure to print out your own SingleCare card to keep in your wallet so it’ll be there the next time you go to fill a prescription, too!
