While some people prefer the ultimate surprise of waiting to find out the gender of their future baby (or babies), a lot of us really like finding out during pregnancy.
To celebrate the excitement of finding out the gender of your baby, many families have started throwing gender reveal parties for themselves or for their friends and family. It’s basically an awesome excuse to get together and eat gender revealing cakes and hang out with your favorite people.
Whatever your motivations for finding out the gender during pregnancy and wanting to make a splash and to-do about it, it’s super helpful to know how to throw a fun gender reveal party!
It’s why I’ve been working on a series of posts all about gender reveals, even if I’ve actually never had one for myself. ?♀️

Gender Reveal Party Games
For whatever game you play, it’s fun to have a little reward for whoever wins! Even adults like incentives for playing games and trying to win!
Some fun ideas of prizes for gender reveal games are:
- Sugar daddy candies
- Baby Powder Scented Yankee candles
- Baby Ruth candy bars
- Hershey candy bars (with HE and SHE highlighted)
You can also split up your party into groups by gender of your guests, or by their gender guess of your future baby, or some other way to add some more competition to the event.
Old Wives Tale Gender Reveal Games
If you want an intellectually stimulating gender reveal party game, try quizzing your guests on how well they know the folklore of Old Wives Tales about Gender Predictions.

Gender Reveal Scavenger Hunt Game
A scavenger hunt is such a fun gender revealing game! Everyone gets to solve puzzles and clues and work together to solve the question of “boy or girl?”
Because, this is such a nifty idea, I went ahead and put together an entire post all about different gender reveal scavenger hunt ideas!
Gender Reveal Balloon Pop
Using a gender reveal balloon is super popular for the parents-to-be, but what about letting your guests join in on the balloon popping fun?
You can order this great gender reveal balloon dartboard where if you pop three pink or three blue, that’s the color of the baby!

Guess the Number of Gender Identifying Jelly Beans in the Jar
A lot of people like trying to correctly guess the number of objects in a jar, especially those with good visual-spacial skills. I’d totally make the prize for guessing the closest the jar of jelly beans!
Callie from Through Clouded Glass did this at one of her gender reveal parties and it’s so cute and easy!
Gender Revealing Pinata Game
While most people are smashing their gender reveal pinatas as a way to spill the beans as to whether it’s a boy or girl in the oven, I really liked the twist Callie from Through Clouded Glass put on her gender reveal pinata!
Around the (regular) candy inside her pinata were taped little cards, and only one of the cards had the reveal written on the underside! She incentivized people finding the card by awarding the winner with two things: announcing the gender to the whole group at the party, and, second, getting a $5 Starbucks gift card.
Team Blue Versus Team Pink Competitions
Depending a lot on the gender reveal saying that is making up the gender reveal theme for your party, you can set up various competitive games for your guests to play that involve shooting Nerf Guns, or throwing balls through hoops, or whatever.
Just split your groups into teams and have them compete! You can hit targets, use hoops, have obstacles in the yard, you name it. You can make it blue and pink to add a gender element, but trying to score and playing a more physical game is usually fun for just about everyone.
Gender Reveal Bingo Party Game Printable
Gender reveal bingo is a fun gender reveal game to play as the pregnant mamma of the hour is opening gifts she receives at the party. If she receives an item on your bingo card, you get to mark it off. The first person to get 5 in a row wins a prize!
You could also set this up as a sort of scavenger hunt or by pulling items out, or simply reading the items off a list. There are several ways to play.
Gender Reveal Clothespin Game
I’ve played the clothespin game at a baby shower before, and it’s challenging! You could totally switch it to anyone saying “baby’ at the party to anyone saying “boy” or “girl” or really any type of gender word (female/male, woman/man, etc). Totally up to you what words are off-limits (but keep it simple – not too many!)
To play, everyone at the party starts with one pink or blue clothespin that they clip onto their clothes. If the person says the unallowed word, the person who catches them saying it, gets to steal the clothespin from them and put it on themselves. The person at the end of the party with the most clothespin on wins!
What’s in Your Purse? Party Game
The What’s In Your Purse? game is pretty simple, though more fitting if your party is all or mostly consisting of women, as men don’t usually carry a purse, or carry much in their pockets.
To play, everyone pulls out items in their purse and for every item they have on the pre-established list of items with point list, they get that amount of points. The person with the most points, wins the prize.
It can also get the conversation started as you might find some interesting things in each others’ purses (or get some personal recommendations on products to use yourself!).
Gender Vote Casting
Having your guests cast a vote for “team blue” or “team pink” as they arrive is an easy way to start the party. There are so many ways you can have people cast votes. It’s totally up to what you want to do.
You can use a cute chalkboard like Caden from ProjectNursery.com did, or you can have people put stickers on a side, don clothing items or accessories in either pink or blue, adhere buttons to themselves, wear that color to the party, and so on.
