“I’m sorry, what?!”
“Did you know you were having twins? Because we would have booked you a longer appointment.”
“No! We’re having twins?!”
The moment our ultrasound technician told us we were expecting not one, but two children
My husband and I were poor newlywed college students awaiting the birth of our first child for an entire 18 weeks only to discover, halfway through my pregnancy, that we’d actually been awaiting the birth of two children that entire time.
My mind immediately began racing with worries and concerns about what a twin pregnancy would mean for me physically, emotionally, financially.
Would I be able to finish and graduate college? Would I have to go on bed rest? Would they spend time in the NICU because don’t like all twin babies come early? Would I have to have a C-section? Could I possibly breastfeed twins and how do you breastfeed twins? How would we manage two kids straight out the gate? How would we afford diapers for two babies and where would we put two babies in our small 1 bedroom, 450 square foot apartment?
Stress. Worry. Fear.
All of those emotions raced each other through my mind.
And yet… I had hope and peace.
I knew that we could do it. I knew there was a higher reason that we, though imperfect and immature and young, were called upon to birth and raise twins.
I took courage and hope thanks to some positive scriptures, especially my favorite positive scripture in the Bible that I had long since memorized:
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6

I totally didn’t understand how I was pregnant with twins, how we could afford them, how I could take care of them, and on and on, yet, I knew that if I trusted in the Lord, acknowledging His hand in my life along this crazy new journey we were about to embark upon, that he would direct me in how to be, how to live, how to nurture and care for our new babies.
And He has!
Proverbs 3:5-6 is just one of many positive attitude scriptures that I like to repeat to myself when times are

Positive Scriptures
I know this is true because of this positive Christian affirmations scripture:
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Philippians 4:13
The following scripture is one we memorized with our kids and one they still like to repeat. It’s an especially positive encouraging scripture to know that even though things seem insurmountable, with God all things can be overcome. All things are possible!
And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
Mark 10:27
I also like to remind myself that God has called me to
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28
Sometimes our burdens feel far too heavy for us to carry for a second longer. Sometimes we already feel broken, completely flat on the ground under the weight of the trials we face.
It is at those moments that I know on whom I must seek out in humility and prayer and plead for my Savior to come and lift the burden off my back because it is too much for me alone to bear and I need him.
And He does. He really, really does. I know this is true personally as I’ve done this before, on a couple of occasions.
It’s in those moments I am grateful so much for this positive, encouraging scripture that highlights so much about God’s character in scripture:
Come unto me, all ye that
labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30
This short, but powerful and positive scripture, helps me keep things in perspective when it seems like everyone and everything is working against me.
It helps me remember that God is mightier than it all and that he is 100% rooting for me (and for you!).
What shall we then say to these things? If
Romans 8:31god for us, who can be against us? be
God is always there. Sometimes is simply a matter of asking him for him, for seeking Him. I know that when I really take the time to pray, to study my scriptures, to ponder on spiritual and heavenly matters, that I find God more near.
And ye shall seek me, and find
Jeremiah 29:13me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
We all love our children and want to give them the best. Our God is also our Heavenly Father and all-powerful and merciful and wonderful and generous. He is the great Creator!
That’s why I like this positive scripture! It reminds me that God will give me more, so much more, than I deserve if I but ask!
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
Matthew 7:11
Waiting is so not easy!! The waiting game stinks in fact. But, if we wait on th Lord, take courage, he will help us. That’s why it’s helpful to know this positive scripture in the Bible.
Wait on the Lord. Be of good courage and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
Psalm 27:14
Speaking of waiting on the Lord… there are specific blessings that are yours if you do so!
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31
Fear is the opposite of faith! God does not give us fear. He gives us the power to overcome fear though! Be sure to memorize this scripture on being positive:
For
2 Timothy 1:7hath not given us the spirit of god fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Not only is this a positive scripture, it is so full of hope, of comfort, knowing that God is with us!
