Looking for cute modest swimsuits that are great for moms? Here are great online stores that sell modest women’s swimsuits that are still very chic! If you’re looking for full coverage options and modest bathing suits, you can find options with great coverage here.
I live in Austin, Texas, so that means swimsuit season starts in April. No joke.
It can get up to 100 degrees toward the end of April, which means there’s nothing else to do to beat the heat but put on your swimsuit, take the kids to the pool, and jump in.
However, for the past three summers, I have either been pregnant or nursing for more than half the time, which makes it hard to justify buying a new suit.
This summer will be the first one where I can wear something other than my modest maternity swimsuit, so I wanted to check out all my options.
Now, there may be some mamas out there who are super fit and can jump into a bikini again after a
I prefer modest tankini swimsuits or modest one-piece swimsuits for a little extra coverage and for modesty’s sake.
I am aware that everyone has different levels of modesty depending on religious, cultural, or comfort beliefs. I know everyone’s definition of what is “modest clothing” varies, so for the purposes of this article, it is a swimsuit that covers the chest, butt, crotch, back, and midsection, or at least mostly covers such areas, so as to not be “too revealing.”
I still found lots of cute and modest swimsuits that include modest one-piece swimsuits, modest tankini swimsuits, modest swimsuit tops, and modest swimsuit bottoms and even include plus size modest swimsuits!
What to look for when researching modest swimsuit brands
When you’re looking for a new swimsuit, there are dozens of suits to sort through. If you’re wanting to not show much skin, here are some tips on how to filter through some of the modest swimwear brands and find the best swimsuit for your needs.
Modest options on swimsuits MAY include:
- high neck tops or a higher neckline
- complete coverage in the chest region
- short bottoms
- sporty one-piece
- high waist
- full sleeves
These will vary for women of all body types but these options can help supply maximum coverage.
Where to Buy Cute Modest Swimsuits
I polled some of my mom friends, asking them where they buy their cute modest swimsuits. Some recommended some major retailers and some online swimsuit retailers.
And because I’m frugal, I included the costs of the swimsuits, highlighting some cheap modest swimsuits when I could find them.
After browsing through multiple websites that were suggested to me, here are some of the best places for modest swimsuits for moms!
Table of contents
Modest Target Swimsuits
The most modest one-piece swimsuits I find at Target are from the following brands:
And most of them are black or may not be in stock in my size. They do offer many now in Plus-Sizes as well.
Modest JCPenney Swimsuits
At JCPenney, the following brands had some great modest swimwear options for women:
- Mynah
- Sonnet Shores
- ZeroXposur
- Splashletics
- Liz Claiborne
The great thing about JCPenney is they are often running site-wide sales, including on swimwear! You can score some swimsuits for pretty cheap.
The downside to their swimwear is that it definitely isn’t all that trendy, youthful, or “now” in terms of swimsuit fashion. But, they certainly will keep you covered, and for less!
Modest Swimsuits at Kohl’s
When it comes to Kohl’s, there are a lot of options for women! Here are some of the more modest brands they carry:
- Croft and Barrow
- Great Lengths
- ZeroXposur
Again, some of these aren’t the most trendy swimwear, but they have a lot of patterns, colors, and a low cost!
Modest Swimsuits on Amazon
There are several very cheap swimsuits on Amazon that are very modest. Most of the brands aren’t likely to be ones you heard of, as most are made overseas (China).
Most are not going to come with tummy controls, custom cup sizes, or UV protection to help them from fading. But, they are cheap, so they can totally be worth trying out as many are SUPER cute as well as modest!
They often come in a variety of colors, but the fit may be different than normal. I would definitely recommend reading the reviews on them and see if they typically run small or large (and in what areas) as well as get a sense of the quality before you buy.

Lands’ End Modest Swimsuits
I had a lot of people suggest Lands’ End to me!
The main advantage of ordering a swimsuit from Lands’ End is that everyone says they last forever. They’re not always the cheapest modest swimsuit initially, but everyone who commented said it was worth it for the quality!
The really cool thing about Lands’ End is they have some truly modest swimwear options, with loads of rash guard options, 9″ board shorts, and
You can also target problem areas that you want solutions for such as:
- Flatten tummy
- Full body slimming
- Minimize bust
- Enhance bust
- Conceal thighs
After having three kids, this is a pretty cool option! You can order your swimsuit in sizes regular, plus, petite, tall, and tall plus, and on most
Since I am fairly tall, I have a problem with tops being long enough for my long torso, so I love their extensive sizing and fit options!
I was also happy with all the different prints and designs available at Lands’ End. They have swimsuits in pretty much every color and style.
Bottoms are $34.95-$69.95, tankini tops are $59.95-$99.95, and modest one-piece bathing suits are $69.95-159.00.
Lands’ End offers great quality, variety, and very mom-friendly swimsuit, just a little bit on the expensive end. Thankfully they run sales A LOT so you don’t have to pay full price!

DM Fashion Modest Swimsuits
DM Fashion is another website I had never heard of before, but definitely worth checking out!
A new look this summer seems to be this “peplum” tankini where the top flares out in a cute way to look really flirty and fun. I like this style because it’s different and it does something new with the basic tankini.A lot of Divinita Sole swimsuits are also ruched on the sides, which is instantly slimming and flattering.
These swimsuits can be summed up in one word: GIRLY.
I loved all the colors and all the different styles. You can do a halter, sport, ruffle, pretty much anything you want.
Tops are $79-$84, and all their high-waisted modest swim bottoms are all $36-40.
Their one pieces are $79-$109, so they aren’t charging you a bunch extra like some other websites do for a one piece.

DownEast Basics Modest Swimwear for Moms
The last swimsuit was from a store called DownEast Basics, which I absolutely loved.
I bought it in 2013. I liked the print, the length, (I’m 5’11”) and the way it hit me and covered up the areas I didn’t want to show
Since DownEast Basics is where I purchased my last swimsuit, I had to check them out this year to see what they had available.
Their one-pieces are only $49.99! This is by far the cheapest price for a one-piece I found. Their tankini tops are $39.99 and their bottoms are $22.99, which is pretty affordable.
I wish they had more selection though. However, I do know these swimsuits are high-quality because mine has lasted a long time, so I don’t think you have to worry about that even though the price is less!
You can check out their full stock here.
Honestly, I’ve found more and more great, affordable, modest swimwear out there the more I’ve looked! There are still plenty more awesome modest swimsuit retailers out there! But, I hope you’re able to find something affordable, flattering, yet modest.
Overall, the options for modest, cute, affordable swimwear for moms have really gone up since a few years ago. I remember shopping for a swimsuit as a teenager and not having near as many options as there are now.
Jenny @ Unremarkable Files says
I ordered a really modest tankini/boy short set I found on eBay for $15 from China. The shipping was expensive but the suit was so cheap it payed for itself! It’s been probably 5 years now and I’m still wearing it! Thanks for the suggestions.
Katelyn Fagan says
Ha. What brand was it? Or was it like handmade from some guy in China?
Jenny @ Unremarkable Files says
Some strange brand I’d never heard of before. Funny story, I had to order the “plus size Asian” suit. I’m like a size 4 in the US.
Chelsea @ Life With My Littles says
I love these! I haven’t bought a new swimsuit in like 4 years, so I think it might be time! Especially in Texas where we’ll be at the pool so often!!
Katelyn Fagan says
Ha. Exactly! It is always swimsuit season here!
