As a Christian, yet as someone who hates materialism, greed, and clutter, the Christmas tradition many people have of doing a kids book advent calendar seems both awesome and excessive.
However, of all the gifts that people can gift another, a book is one of the best, in my opinion… as long as it’s a good book. I love useful, practical, reusable gifts both at Christmas and any other gifting occasion.
RELATED: How to Reuse Christmas Wrapping Paper
I homeschool, so the idea of building up my library with beautiful and awesome books is very appealing to me! I want my kids to love reading (which is why I’m also thinking about gifting a kids’ book box subscription this year too).
And that’s why I decided not to just put together a list of best-selling Christmas books for kids, but to put together a list of the best children’s Christmas books that focus on the Savior’s birth, instead of focusing solely on Santa, elves, good feelings, family, love, or gifts.
All of those have their place and I am not against them, but I also like books that are much more explicit in their message of the true meaning of Christmas (which is Jesus Christ’s birth… not just love and warm feelings).
I hope you’ll enjoy discovering some amazing new books to gift to the children’s in your life!
