Looking for a great kid nativity set? Then this is the list for you! Keep reading to discover the best nativity sets for kids this year 2021! Great for the holiday season!
My mother-in-law loves to call Christmas nativity sets “activity sets” because children love to play with them and act out the story of Jesus Christ’s birth themselves.
But, not all nativity sets are actually intended for children, especially babies and toddlers!
As a mom with seven young children, I cringe at the idea of buying a fancy, nice, likely expensive nativity set (think ceramic, glass, porcelain) and actually displaying it in my home. Because there is no magical shelf in my home where things are left untouched and therefore unbroken.
That’s why I have always loved having a child’s nativity set!
Shortly after having our twins, my in-laws gifted us an 11-Piece Fisher-Price Nativity set and it’s been one of our favorite things to get out each year at Christmastime. We pack it up between seasons and every time we bring it out again it’s a hit!
The kids love it and so do I!
Having a child-friendly nativity set means I don’t mind my children regularly moving it and interacting with it.
I love that they get to retell again and again the story of Jesus Christ’s birth without me stressing about the pieces getting broken. We can have the children act out the parts themselves with the animals and people and angels as we read children’s Christmas books or watch Christian Christmas movies.
So, if you are looking for some kid nativity sets, I’ve compiled a collection of wonderful nativity sets for you!
I’ve compiled them into popular categories, making it even easier for you to find exactly what you’re looking for!

25 Nativity Sets for Kids
These children’s nativity sets are perfect for Christmas. Let them find a special place to showcase them!
Fisher-Price Little People Nativity Sets
I absolutely love the Fisher-Price Little People Nativity sets!
It’s what we own and use and love every year. It’s so toddler-friendly (and toddler resistant) and fun! My nine-year-olds still love to play and pretend with it!
There are FIVE different Little People Nativity sets:
OPTION #1: This is the classic, 10-piece LIttle People Nativity set with Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, angel Gabriel & 6 animal figures. It’s only around $25 and available at many stores! You can pick it up on Amazon and Walmart.
OPTION #2: Fisher-Price Little People Nativity Set #2 with 12 Pieces and 5 accessory pieces. It comes with walls to extend the scene, hay, and cart. It also includes the wise men and plays “Away in a Manger.” This one can be found at Amazon or Walmart.
OPTION 3: Fisher-Price Little People Nativity Advent Calendar. I’m SUPER excited to see that Fisher-Price has released an Amazon Exclusive nativity advent calendar that gives you 25 pieces of the nativity scene, and even includes a fold-out nativity manager (though not a hard plastic one).
This has even more pieces (chickens, dog, cat, shepherd, wise men) than other sets and doubles as a fun toy advent calendar! It’s a nativity set and advent calendar in one! What’s not to love about it?!
You can get it from Amazon here.
OPTION 4: Little People Nativity Set #1 with 11 Pieces {DISCONTINUED}. This is the biggest (and best) of the three sets: the stable is bigger, the angel can spin or “dance” on the top of the stable, the barn door moo’s and baas when you open and shut it, and baby Jesus lights up when you press down on him and causes “Away in a Manger” to play (which is a great Christian Christmas song about the Savior).
This is the one we personally have and love, complete with the additional Little People Lil’ Shepherd set and The Little People Three Wise Men sets.
HOWEVER, this Fisher-Price nativity set is an older model and not easy to come by (unfortunately), which means it’s very expensive. The stable with Mary, Joseph, and Jesus plus the animals and carts can be found on Walmart but it is out of stock and probably will never come back.
OPTION 5: Fisher-Price Little People Nativity Set – On the Go Nativity Set! {DISCONTINUED} I have not seen this one before, but this small, portable Fisher Price Nativity comes with five figurines and a cute plastic storage stable with handle! You can find it on Walmart but it is out of stock.
PLAYMOBIL Nativity Sets
My in-laws also once gifted us an awesome PLAYMOBIL Noah’s ark set. Their stuff is high quality and has tons of fun little features like movable limbs and bodies, fun accessories, and more.
OPTION 1: Playmobil Christmas nativity set! It doesn’t disappoint! The Playmobil nativity set is an illuminative nativity manger scene with twinkling stars! It even comes with fold-out feet to elevate the scene so you could see it through the windows.
This nativity isn’t the best for babies and toddlers, but preschoolers (4+) and older should love all the details and extras (without putting all the all in their mouths)!
Get the Playmobil Illuminating Nativity Manger!
OPTION 2: Playmobil Nativity Set with Manger. Set includes five figures, stable, batter-powered lantern, lamb, palm tree, shooting star, haystack, bonfire, and other accessories.

My mom made a gorgeous felt nativity when I was a kid. I have it now. I have many prettier sets, but the felt one is my favourite because it was made with love by my mom!
Katelyn Fagan says
Awe! So cute! I only remember our painted brown plywood manger and ceramic nativity set pieces, with broken pieces (and of course Jesus was missing a hand) that we had as kids. Ha. It wasn’t very fancy, and I think some years we didn’t even pull it out or talk much about it!

I’m looking for a nativity for my children where the people look more middle eastern and less white. Any suggestions?
Mary Cummings says
I have a Nativity set made up of very young students acting out the scene. It is so adorable and I have put it out for years, although I’ve no idea where it might have come from. Can you help me as one of the little shepherds is broken. Thank you and Merry Christmas!
