Every year my husband and I purposefully hit the stores at Christmastime in search of a brand new ornament to add to our Christmas tree. We like Christmas tree ornaments and like adding new, specific ones to our tree each year.
Some we have bought simply because we found it beautiful. Others we bought because we welcomed a new child that year and needed to add that “Baby’s First Christmas” ornament to our collection for our child to place on the tree year after year.
We usually limit ourselves somewhat though by buying an ornament we can find in a store and don’t spend too much time on the selection process. But, I thought it would be pretty neat if we picked up a nativity ornament this year (or in the future), mostly because I’ve been on an all things Nativity kick.
I love having so many different things that help us focus on the Savior, so many nativity items! It’s why we read children’s Christmas books that focus on the Savior, color nativity coloring pages, get out our favorite kid nativity sets, use a nativity advent calendar, and put on nativity costumes while we act out the nativity story found in the scriptures.
My husband’s grandfather made some religious Christmas ornaments out of wood which are nativity scene ornaments. They are special because his grandfather made them and because they remind us of the true meaning of Christmas. We want to keep Christ in Christmas as much as possible and combat that Christmastime greed.
I also find that Nativity Christmas ornaments make for great gifts for Sunday school classes, teachers, neighbors, and whoever you’d like to give an appreciation gift to. They would also be a nice gift to add to an anonymous gifting present during the Holiday season, like a 12 Days of Christmas secret Santa gift!
Whatever your personal reasons for wanting to find beautiful religious ornaments, I searched the internet looking for the most beautiful nativity scene ornaments I could find! Some you can purchase but several are nativity ornaments to make yourself or with your kids.
A homemade religious Christmas ornament is such a sentimental and awesome gift and memory to cherish each year you decorate your Christmas tree.

There are many different types of nativity ornaments, made out of different materials from wood and porcelain to plastic and felt! They come in different shapes, and some are handmade and some mass produced. Finding the right one for your tree is usually a matter of personal preference, so I tried to grab a wide variety to suit everyone’s personal aesthetics and taste.

DIY Nativity Ornaments
There are so many great homemade religious ornaments you can make, and several that focus on the nativity scene. I’ve included some of my favorite I found around the web!
If you love to craft, and want to craft and create each day with your children or grandchildren leading up to Christmas, you should check out the Truth in the Tinsel advent ebook!
